Well, you can rest easy knowing I'm gonna do what I can to help, at least. I'm not so keen on letting a classmate die on my watch.
— Gin Noto

Gin Noto is a second year high school student from Tatefushi Academy and the protagonist's classmate. Dressed in the latest fashion, he's a modern day high schooler moved by energy and emotions.

After he founds the Go-Home Club with the President and Sasara Amiki, he decorates his general location with stacks of shoe boxes and comic books. Once all nine of his character episodes are finished, he also places a teddy bear, likely from the gift shop of the Okitama Planetarium, on his seat.

Appearance

Gin’s normal form is the Tatefushi Academy uniform with some modifications, such as a yellow long-sleeve shirt under the blazer, which has a patch with blue roses over his heart, and a white shirt under that. He has long pants and white sneakers with purple accents, and he completes the ensemble with a yellow cap with a white X on it. His outfit matches the color scheme of the non-binary flag.

His Catharsis Effect changes his pants into shorts, revealing his legs which are now black and which end in high heels. He has golden tape around his chest that winds around his neck, and his blue roses bloom over his heart.

Personality

Gin is the protagonist’s best friend: a kind friend with a manly side. With his personality that can read the mood and be considerate, he has many friends of all genders. When asked whether most of them are guys or girls on WIRE, he states that he has an equal amount of guys and girls as his friends and he doesn’t discriminate. He commonly refers to the girls in the Go-Home Club by their first name, which is typically considered overly friendly for boys to do. When confronted about it, he admits that it's a bad habit of his.

He has a dorky side, being entranced with trains and comic books, usually stating that the things he likes are things that every guy likes after being questioned about it. Yet, he’s also shown to be capable and responsible when under pressure.

He also isn’t afraid to fight dirty, even coming up with the idea to throw Machina in front of a train when he refused to stand down after their battle.

In the real world, Gin lived as a woman by the name of Shiika Noto. Knowing from a young age that he wasn’t a woman, he attempted to repress those feelings due to societal and familial pressure, destroying his mental health in the process, living as a woman and nothing else, and focusing on his office work. Over the twenty-five years of his life, he slowly began to regret every single decision he made that led him to living as a woman. He states in a WIRE conversation that he listened to Regret whenever he felt down, and that's most likely how he ended up in Redo.

In Redo, he lived as what he believed his ideal self to be, as a man. At first, he was happy, feeling like this was a dream come true. Yet, as the novelty wore off, he realized that the knot in the pit of his stomach was still there, and he has a breakdown in front of the protagonist.

The protagonist tells Gin that they cannot make this decision for him, and suggests that he may be neither a man nor a woman. X then says she has done research and suggests that there are terms such as Agender and Non-binary, and then follows up with her belief that there shouldn’t be a binary and says that Gin is fine just the way he is, which the protagonist agrees with.

In his rank 9, Gin says that he has finally accepted who he is, and thanks the protagonist for helping him come to his realization. He then says he feels as if he’s been steering the conversation for a while, and then asks the protagonist if there’s anything they’ve wanted to ask him. Depending on which question the protagonist asks him, he either says he wants to start a unisex fashion brand back in the real world (What’ll you do when you return?), says that he could see himself ending up with anyone (Are you into guys or girls?), or reveals his deadname and says that the name Gin came from a job he had in high school where he had to cross-dress (Do you go by Gin at work?).

Profile

Normal: "Got a lead on some rare kicks? Let a sneakerhead know!"

A trendy high schooler who's always on the cutting edge of fashion. Though he often goes with the flow, he's rather passionate about his friends, of which he has many, both male and female. He is surprisingly considerate, and is very comfortable speaking to girls.

Deep Dive: "What in the world am I?"

An individual struggling with his identity. Assigned female at birth, he suppressed his masculine aspects out of societal pressure and familial obligation, eventually choosing to live as a woman and nothing else --even at the cost of his mental well-being.

Gin parallels MU-kun. The both of them are office workers who regret not living their dreams in reality. Gin desperately wished every day that he hadn't suppressed his masculine aspects so deeply and had just come out of the closet, while MU-kun wished that he had put more stock in his childhood dreams instead of resigning himself to a life of mediocrity.

This parallel makes them incredibly antagonistic to each other, as Gin believes that MU-kun cares for nothing else except standing out and dislikes how shallow he is, while MU-kun believes that Gin is jealous of his popularity in Redo and thinks that Gin is hateful of those above him.

Catharsis Effect

Gin’s Catharsis Effect is focused on debuffs. Gin inflicts a variety of status effects on enemies, usually either Poison or Bleed. He’s a very technical character, not very strong physically, but he can easily destroy Digiheads and Puppetheads with statuses. He also has the bonus of being able to do extra damage to enemies in the air, which makes him extremely compatible with the Protagonist’s launching skills.

His flower is the blue rose. In Japanese flower language, a blue rose can mean "a dream come true", "impossibility", "miracle", and/or "god's blessing".[1] Blue roses are also flowers that do not naturally exist in the wild.
